Some problems with two axiomatizations of discussive logic
نویسنده
چکیده
Problems in two axiomatizations of Jaśkowski’s discussive (or discursive) logic D2 are considered. A recent axiomatization of D2 and completeness proof relative to D2’s intended semantics seems to be mistaken because some formulas valid according to the intended semantics turn out to be unprovable. Although no new axiomatization is offered, nor a repaired completeness proof given, the shortcomings identified here may be a step toward an improved axiomatization.

An Adaptive Logic Based on Jaśkowskiˈs Approach to Paraconsistency
Discussive logics (also called discursive logics) were introduced in 1948 by Stanis law Jaśkowski and constitute the first family of formal paraconsistent logics. The basic mechanism behind discussive logics is as simple as ingenious. Where L is some modal logic and Γ♦ = {♦A | A ∈ Γ}, a discussive logic DL, associated with L, is obtained by specifying the language L of DL and by stipulating tha...
متن کاملDiscussive Adaptive Logics: Handling Internal and External Inconsistencies∗
In this paper, I present the discussive adaptive logic DLI. As is the case for other discussive logics, the intended application context of DLI is the interpretation of discussions. What is new about the system is that it does not lead to explosion when some of the premises are selfcontradictory. It is argued that this is important in view of the fact that human reasoners are not logically omni...
متن کاملUnary Interpretability Logic
Let T be an arithmetical theory. We introduce a unary modal operator T to be interpreted arithmetically as the unary interpretability predicate over T. We present complete axiomatizations of the (unary) interpretability principles underlying two important classes of theories. We also prove some basic modal results about these new axiomatizations.
متن کاملNegations in the Adjunctive Discursive Logic
In the logical literature, Discursive (or Discussive) Logic introduced by Stanis law Jaśkowski is seen as one of the earliest examples of the so-called paraconsistent logic. There is some confusion over what is actually discursive logic nevertheless. One of the possible sources of the confusion is easy to discern; it comes from the fact that Jaśkowski published his two papers in Polish and thei...
متن کاملModal and Temporal Logics for Space-time
In this paper we survey the known results and open problems in the axiomatizations of the modal and temporal logics of the structures Rn and Zn with the relations , ≺, and Robb’s α. We also briefly consider some results concerning Nn.
